Dr. Prateek Bhatnagar Heart Foundation
Renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Prateek Bhatnagar is one of India’s best known cardiac surgeons and is based in Hyderabad. Dr. Bhatnagar topped in MBBS in 1982, winning 10 gold medals & was declared the overall best student of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. Dr Prateek Bhatnagar did his M.Ch. in cardiothoracic surgery from the prestigious PGI Chandigarh. He later did a 4 year Fellowship in cardiac surgery from Australia, while working with leading heart surgeons – Dr. Roger Mee, Prof Brian Buxton and Dr. Alan Farnsworth.
Dr. Bhatnagar did the world’s first reported coronary artery bypass surgery in Mesocardia. He has also done India’s first re redo CABG with off pump total arterial revascularisation. Hyderabad’s and Telangana’s first Awake CABG was also done by him using off pump total arterial revascularisation. Dr. Prateek Bhatnagar has received numerous professional awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award by Mahaveer International Trust for his pioneering work in CABG surgery. He was awarded as one of the most outstanding graduates of GSVM Medical College in the last 50 years at the Golden Anniversary celebrations of the medical college in 2007. He has also received the Dr. Purshottam Singh Award from Indian Medical Association, the GEMS International Award and Dr. SN Mathur Oration Award among many others.
Dr. Bhatnagar’s main area of interest is total arterial revascularisation in CABG using bilateral IMAs, creative and bespoke arterial configurations, redo & re redo CABG. He has been using the off pump technique in CABG for practically all patients for the last 25 years.
Dr. Bhatnagar has delivered invited lectures in multiple conferences and scientific meetings in both cardiac surgery and cardiology. He contested for President of Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons but was unsuccessful ! Political novice !
Dr. Bhatnagar has in the past organized 3 Live Workshops on Off pump BIMA CABG in Hyderabad in the last 2 decades. All were very well attended.
He has founded the Dr. Prateek Bhatnagar Heart Foundation in 2024. The Foundation will organize scientific meetings & conclaves. The Foundation also aims to provide financial aid to underprivileged patients and support cardiovascular research.

Dr. David Glineur is a cardiac surgeon at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and serves as Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Ottawa. He earned his medical degree with honors from the Université Catholique de Louvain in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Glineur’s extensive training includes specialization in robotic cardiac surgery in the United States. He initiated the robotic mitral valve program at Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge in Namur, Belgium, in 2011 and received his “Agrégé de l’Enseignement Supérieur” (equivalent to a PhD) the same year.
His research is notable for its focus on coronary revascularization physiology, and he has conducted several prospective randomized trials on coronary revascularization surgery with an emphasis on full arterial grafting. Dr. Glineur is recognized globally for his expertise in fractional flow reserve testing for surgical coronary revascularization and robotic cardiac surgery.
Dr. Piroze M. Davierwala is the Surgical Director of the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) Program at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto General Hospital, UHN, and an Associate Professor and Surgeon-Investigator, Division of Cardiac Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Toronto.
Dr. Davierwala graduated from medical school in 1993.Between 1994-1996, he completed his residency in General Surgery and his Master’s in General Surgery from the University of Pune, India. From 1997-2000, he completed his residency in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and obtained the degree of Master of Chirurgie from the University of Mumbai, India. Subsequently, he spent 3 years as a Clinical Fellow at the University of Toronto, Canada.
Following the completion of his training, Dr. Davierwala worked as a consultant in Cardiovascular Surgery in two private hospitals in Pune. In 2009 he acquired a staff position at the Leipzig Heart Center – a world-renowned institute for minimally invasive cardiac surgery located in Germany.
During his 12-year tenure in Leipzig, Dr. Davierwala developed expertise in the entire spectrum of MICS procedures including mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valve repairs, coronary artery bypass, and aortic surgery. Notably, he pioneered the development of and established the technique of multi-vessel total arterial minimally invasive coronary surgery with the use of bilateral internal mammary arteries. In addition to his leadership in the field of minimally invasive cardiac surgery, Dr. Davierwala has tremendous experience in performing complex reconstructive surgery for endocarditis, repairing complications of myocardial infarction, and performing thoracic aortic operations, among other procedures. His research, which encompasses clinical studies and trials, has been published in numerous international, peer-reviewed journals, and he is the author of several book chapters. Dr. Davierwala is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and a member of the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons, the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Michael Vallely is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Macquarie University and is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at St George Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He has previously held academic surgery positions as Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Surgery at The University of Sydney. He is an Australian trained academic cardiothoracic surgeon with a PhD from The University of Sydney.
Professor Vallely has over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals and several published book chapters. He has presented widely at national and international meetings. He has developed and participated in several first in man procedures and first in man trials and is the senior author on publications that have contributed to changes in international coronary artery surgery treatment guidelines.
His academic and clinical interests are in elderly, complex and high-risk patients, including the application of anaortic off-pump, all-arterial CABG, minimal access, structural heart and transcatheter techniques. Other interests include value-based healthcare, integrated healthcare, medical technology investing and the development of medical technology devices.
